Snowdonia - Porthmadog

UK Coastal Golf Breaks

Portmadog, Snowdonia, WalesFrom whichever direction you approach Porthmadog, you cannot fail to be impressed by the town’s stunning setting. Known as the Gateway to Snowdonia, the town is dominated on one side by a mountain known as ‘Moel y Gest' 262 metres above the town, whilst to the North and East sits the wide expanse of the Glaslyn estuary, renowned as a haven for migrating birds and wildlife, which extends dramatically towards the Snowdon range.

Porthmadog is a bustling coastal town, with plenty of shops and places to eat. It has a strong cultural heritage, being the home of the Ffestiniog Railway, and with the fantasy Italienate village of Portmeirion, where The Prisoner was filmed, lying just a couple of miles down the coast.

Golf :- This area also offers many golfing opportunities with some of Wales' most renowned golf courses lying closeby. The most well known is the championship course of Royal St. David, offering excellent golf and great views of Harlech castle. However, the local Porthmadog course is well worth playing and trips out to the peninsula (to play Pwllheli, Nefyn and Abersoch) offer the fantastic combination of great golf with stunning scenery. Both Royal St. Davids & Nefyn are in the Top 100 courses in Gt Britain and Ireland.
