The Barcelo, Costa Ballena Golf & Spa Hotel ****
This elegant 4 star hotel opened in June 2005 and is located right next to Costa Ballena Golf Club, in the province of Cadiz. The hotel has been designed in a typical Andalusian style and has 228 comfortable rooms with magnificent views of the sea and golf course. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning and heating, a king-size bed, full bath, 21" TV, mini-bar, Internet connection, good sized wardrobes, telephone, safe and terrace.
There is a buffet restaurant, snack bar next to the pool and a lobby bar with a warm, friendly atmosphere which is open in the evening. In addition, the hotel has 2 outdoor pools (one of which is heated), children's pool, children's mini-club, sports area, games room, and bicycle rental service.
The buffet restaurant offers a good selection at both breakfast and evening dinner, with a selection of items cooked fresh on request to add to those hot and cold dishes previously prepared.
There are a small number of bars and cafes within walking distance of the hotel but you will need to drive into either Rota or Chipiona (about 10 mins) if you want a bit more nightlife.
The cities of Cadiz (35 mins), Jerez (20 mins) and El Puerto de St.Maria (15 mins) are all within a relatively short driving distance.
