Castro Marim is one of our most popular courses, enjoyed by golfers with both low and high handicaps.
Located close to the historic town of Castro Marim (complete with mediaeval castle) the course runs through undulating hills dotted with pines, and breathtaking views across the River Guadiana to neighbouring Spain. It is very much an “up and down” course and we would recommend a buggy for the "faint hearted".
Castro Marim now boasts 27 holes giving 2 different courses – the Atlantic & Guadiana (original 18) and the Grouse & Atlantic. Whilst the new 18 are a little longer, both courses require careful (and straight) play off the tees, with strategically placed water hazards and fairway terrain that can put you in trouble. This is not to mention the well placed bunkers waiting for an erring ball. In addition most shots to the shorter par 5s and 4s on the course are uphill so club selection is very important.
The 19th hole clubhouse, shaped like the mediaeval castle, offers a very friendly finish to your round where there is an excellent variety of food and drink on offer and great views over the course towards the sea. An enjoyable test for all levels of golfer.
