The Montecastillo Hotel (*****) and Golf Resort are situated just off the main road from Jerez to Arcos, right next to the Jerez Formula 1 grand prix circuit.
The famous Montecastillo Golf course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened in 1993. It was the site of the Volvo Masters Andalucia tournament (PGA European Tour top 66 golfers) from 1997 to 2001.
It is a splendid course with some excellent and very testing holes, and we would recommend using a buggy as there are often long, uphill/downhill walks from green to tees, particularly on the back 9. The front 9 is fairly open with water really only affecting your shot into the 7th (par 4) and tee-shot on the par 3 8th. The back 9 is a bit tighter and there are some great holes with 13th having a lovely view of the Grand Prix circuit from the tee. The finishing hole (par 4) gives you fantastic views of the Hotel and Castle from the high tee area, and leaves you with a difficult 2nd shot into the green with a lake on the left protecting any back flag position.
