The El Puerto golf course is just outside El Puerto de Santa Maria, in the heart of the Cadiz bay, and was designed by Manuel Pinero.
It is a very attractive course with well designed holes, many of which are made more challenging because of 9 linked lakes which exist on the course. The course is gently undulating and its special features include an impressive number of indigenous trees. It is enjoyable to play and is a good challenge to golfers of all levels.
After a lengthy starting par 4 (403 mtrs off the whites) the 2nd hole is a shorter 348 mtr par 4 (off the white) 90 degree angle left-hand dog leg, but with a large lake to clear for your second shot. If your round is going well you will need all of your skills to handle 2 of the toughest holes at the end. The 17th is a 412 metre dog leg right par 4 with an uphill shot to the green surrounded by bunkers. The finishing hole is a 541 metre par 5, with a lake down the left hand side of most of the route into the green.
Although a relatively new and unknown course, we feel confident that its reputation will grow rapidly in the coming years and it is well worth a visit.
